Odisha logs 237 new covid cases in past 24 hours, Govt. prohibits zero night, new year celebrations, night curfew to continue in all urban areas

Bhubaneswar : For the second consecutive day Odisha reported the new covid 19 cases surpassed the 200 mark taking the total tally in the state to 10,49,345.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours 237 new infections were reported from 18 of the total 30 districts which included 139 from the quarantine centres and 98 as local contact cases.

Khordha district reported the highest number of 113 cases followed by Cuttack ( 19), Sundargarh(16) and Sambalpur(13).

The recoveries in the state surged to 10,38,509 with the discharge of 203 covid patients from the hospitals on Tuesday while the covid death toll rose to 8413 with the death of two persons, one each from Khordha and Dhenkanal district during the health audit.

The active cases in the state increased to 2370 of which Khordha district alone accounted for 1010 cases followed by Sambalpur ( 152), Cuttack(139) and Mayurbhanj ( 119 ).

Meanwhile, the Odisha government has issued the fresh covid guidelines for December imposing the night curfew in all urban areas from 10 PM to 5 AM every day, prohibiting zero night celebrations and welcoming to new year celebration across the state on December 31 and January 1.

The government also banned all picnics and community feasts at public places on the occasion of zero night celebrations, new year celebrations and similar functions on the eve of the new year.

The people were advised to use green crackers during the celebrations with utmost safety and warned not to use public places.
