Odisha logs 226 new covid 19 cases, tally surges to 10,46.088 with 8383 fatalities

Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 226 new covid positive cases in the past 24 hours with a test positivity rate of 0.37 per cent, taking the cumulative tally in the state to 10,46,088.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said all the 226 new cases which included 128 from the quarantine centres and 98 local contact cases, were reported from 20 districts.No new cases were reported from the other ten districts.

Khordha district recorded the highest number of 114 cases followed by Cuttack ( 15) and Balasore (10). These three coastal districts accounted for 61.5 per cent of the total new positive cases reported in the past 24 hours in the state. The other 17 districts, however, reported single-digit covid cases.

Sources said only Khordha district has recorded the test positivity rate of 2 per cent while the other 29 districts have less than one per cent, fourteen of them have zero test positivity rate.

Two more covid deaths, one each from Khordha and Mayurbhanj district, were recorded in the health audit pushing the total fatalities to 8383, about 0.8 per cent of the total cases in the state.

The recovery in the state surged to 10,34,995, about 98.9 per cent of the total covid positive cases reported in the state so far.

The active cases marginally dropped to 2657 in the past 24 hours with Khordha district accounting for a maximum number of 1266 cases followed by Cuttack(236) and Sambalpur (102). These three districts together have 60.36 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
