Odisha logs 212 new covid cases in past 24 hours, Tally surges to 10,47,386

Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 212 new covid cases in the past 24 hours taking the total covid tally in the state to 10,47,386.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of the 212 new infections,123 were reported from the quarantine centres and 89 as local contact cases As many as 70 positive cases, about 33 percent of the total new cases, were registered in the age group of 0 to 18 years indicating an alarming trend of infection among the children in the
state.

Sources said Khordha district alone recorded the highest number of 90 cases( about 42.4 percent) followed by Sundargarh ( 39) and 13 each in Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur.

These four districts together recorded a little over 73 percent of the total positive cases reported in the past 24 hours from 16 districts in the state.No covid cases were reported from ten districts during the period.

The recovery in the state surged to 10,36,746 after 245 more covid patients were cured from the virus on Monday.

One more death from Khordha district was recorded in the health audit during the period pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8396 while the active cases further dropped to 2191.

Sources said a majority of the active cases were found in Khordha district( 1030) followed by Cuttack (162). These two coastal districts together accounted for 54.4 percent of the total active cases in the state.

The daily test positivity rate of the state stood at 0.44 percent.As many as 15 districts however, reported zero test positivity rate while 14 districts have the test positivity rate below one percent.

Khordha district which has the highest number of active cases as well as daily covid load, has also reported highest test positivity rate of 2.2 percent in the past 24 hours.
