Odisha logs 206 new covid 19 cases from half of the districts in past 24 hours, tally surges to 10,45,862

Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 206 fresh covid positive cases in the past 24 hours from half of the districts, taking the overall tally in the state to 10,45,862.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 206 new cases, 121 were reported from the quarantine centres and 85 from the local contact cases.

For the second consecutive day the local contact cases in the state remained below 100 mark although there has been a marginal rise of the local contact cases from 76 on November 14 to 85 on Monday.

Khordha district continued to remain on the top of the district tally with 120 cases reported in the past 24 hours followed by Cuttack(15) and Jajpur (12).These three coastal districts have accounted for 71.35 percent of the total new infections in the state.

As many as 15 districts have recorded no covid cases in the past 24 hours while 12 districts have registered single digit covid cases during the period.

The recovery rate in the state rose to 98.93 percent as 10,34,759 patients including 254 on Monday have so far been recovered from the virus.

Two more covid deaths were reported, one each from Khordha and Cuttack districts during the health audit ,pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8381.

The daily test positivity rate on Tuesday has reported 0.40 percent, a slight rise in comparison to Monday’s 0.33 percent.

However, except Khordha district which has a test positivity rate of 1.2 percent, the other 29 districts have the test positivity rate of less than one percent.As many as 12 districts however, have the test positivity rate of zero percent.

The active cases in the state dropped further to 2669 of which Khordha district alone accounted for 1292 cases followed by 236 in Cuttack district.

These two coastal districts have 57.24 percent of the total active cases in the state.
