Bhubaneswar : Odisha recorded 1041 new covid cases and 64 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the tally to 9,88,997 with 6565 fatalities.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said 605 new infections were reported from the quarantine centres and 436 local contact cases from all the 30 districts in the state in the past 24 hours.
Khordha district registered the highest number of 383 cases while Cuttack district reported 132 cases. The other 28 districts registered less than 100 cases.
At least 64 covid patients from 17 districts succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours pushing the covid fatalities in the state to 6565.
Khordha district alone reported 20 deaths followed by Sundargarh (8), Balssore (6) and Kandhamal(4).
While the active cases in the state declined to 10,988 cases, the recoveries surged to 9,71,391 with 1475 more patients recovering from the virus on Monday.
There has been a marginal rise in the test positivity rate in the state from 1.7 per cent to 1.8 per cent in the past 24 hours.
For the last five days, the state has been witnessing the TPR below 2 per cent. The highest TPR of 3.1 per cent was registered in Balasore district while 20 districts in the state reported less than one per cent TPR.
