Cuttack: The Bharatiya Bikash Parishad today filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Orissa High Court in connection with the wildfire raging in forests across the state. The social organisation has challenged the alleged in action of Forest Department, Government of Odisha and Odisha Forest Development Corporation in extinguishing fire in different forests.Principal Secretary, Forest Department,  Odisha Government and Chairmancum- Managing Director, Forest Development Corporation have been made respondents in the case.
It has prayed before the High Court to issue RULE NISI calling upon the opposite parties to show cause as to why the appropriate writ/writs in the nature of MANDAMUS or any other suitable writs should not be issued directing the parties to take immediate action in the matter to extinguish fire in the Similipal forest and other forests of the state.
