Odisha: Covid+ve tally surpasses 6 lakh mark with fresh report of 11,805 cases in past 24 hours

Bhubaneswar : Covid tally in Odisha today surged to 6,00,492 with the detection of 11,805 fresh infection cases from 30 districts in the past 24 hours.

Covid fatalities also shut up to 2294 with 21 more covid patients succumbing to the virus in the past 24 hours.

With the recovery of 9329 people on Friday, the number of recoveries in the state went up to 4,91,674 while the active cases rose to 1,06,471.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said during the last 24 hours 6611 new cases were detected from the quarantine centres and 5194 local contact cases from all the 30 districts in the state.

At least three districts- Khordha, Sundargarh and Cuttack have reported more than 1000 new cases with Khordha registering the maximum number of 1414 cases followed by Sundargarh (1209) and Cuttack (1197).

As many as ten districts have reported more than 300 cases in a single day during the past 24 hours.

Out of 21 deaths reported from ten districts, Khordha district reported a maximum of four fatalities followed by three in Angul and two each in Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Puri, Kendrapara and Rayagada. One each died in four other districts.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government on Friday invited a global e-tender for procurement of nearly 3.8 crore covid vaccines from international companies across the world.

The state required nearly four crore vaccines to inoculate about 1.94 crore people in the age group of 18 – 44 years.

The Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited( OSMCL) has floated the tender in which the manufacturer of vaccines in the country as well as their authorised importer could also participate in the tender.
