Bhubaneswar: The Dhenkanal police have arrested nine criminals involved in the looting of gold and ornaments from Rasol branch of Odisha Gramya Bank in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
Dhenkanal SP Divya V told newsmen on Monday that five out of six directly involved in the loot and four others who conspiredhave been arrested while two more will benabbed soon. Altogether eleven criminals were involved in the case, she said.
She said the police have recovered 5.358 kg of looted gold ornaments, Rs 11.5 lakh cash and mobile phones of the bank staff from the possession of the daco its, seized bikes, car and weapons used in the crime.
The SP said on January 12 afternoon, four armed miscreants arrived in two motorcycles and forced their entry into the Rasol branch of Odisha Gramya Bank and looted the gold and cash at gun points.
They locked the bank employees in a room and took away the hard disk, electronics equipment along with the looted gold ornaments and cash and fled from the spot in two motorcycles.
