Naveen announces Rs 507 crore special assistance forfarmers hit by cyclonic storm Jawad in Odisha

Bhubaneswar,Chief MinisterNaveen Patnaik on Monday announcedRs.507 crore special assistance to the farmersof Odisha hit by cyclonic storm Jawad onDecember 4 and 5 last.
Chief Minister’s office sources said small andmarginal farmers depending upon rainfedland who suffered crop loss of 33 percentwould receive Rs.6800 per hectare,Rs.13,500 on irrigated land
and Rs 18,000 for perennial crops.The farmers would also receive an input subsidy assistance of Rs.2000 for loss of all season crops and Rs.1000 for other crops.The government will provide 12,000 quintals of high yielding variety certified seeds to the farmers affected in 12 districts due to the cyclonic storm Jawad at a concessional rate.
The affected farmers would be provided 50,000 mini kits on pulses seed kits and four lakh
vegetable seeds kits free of cost. Official sources said one lakh self help groups engaged in fruits and vegetable cultivation would be provided plastic crates. Each self help group member would be provided five plastic crates at
90 percent concessional rate.The farmers in the affected districts will be given agricultural equipment of Rs.50 crore at aconcessional rate.At least 5000 pump sets will be provided to the farmers in the affected districts at 50 percent concession upto a maximum limit of Rs.10,000. Sources said steps would be taken so that the farmers registered under Prime Minister Fasal. Bima Yojana will also receive the assistance at the earliest for which the crop cutting experiment
would be soon completed.
