Bhubaneswar: Scripting a milestone in the field of higher education system in south Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday approved a proposal to accord university status to famous Vikram Deb College in Jeypore. The Chief Minister expressed his happiness by stating that the long-standing demand of the intellectuals and students
of the undivided Koraput district has been fulfilled today. Vikram Deb College has played a significant role in t h e fi e l d o f h i g h e r education in the undivided Koraput district. This year the college is celebrating its platinum jubilee. Vikram Deb College was established in 1947. The college currently has 16 Post Graduate programs, 17 Under Graduate programs, in addition to BBA, BCA, and B.ED courses. Currently, four thousand students are studying here. All the colleges of undivided Koraput district are affiliated to Brahmapur University. Now this new university will benefit thousands of students from Koraput, Rayagada Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that this will be a milestone in the field of higher education in South Odisha.
