Kolkata : West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will administer the oath of office to
three newly elected MLAs, including Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata
Banerjee, in the State Legislative Assembly at 2 PM on Thursday.
Trinamool Congress’ Amirul Islam and Jakir Hossain, who emerged victorious from Samshergunj and Jangipur in Murshidabad district respectively, will also take oath.
Ms Banerjee, who lost to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikary from Nandigram Assembly constituency in the April-May election, romped home by a whopping margin of more than 58,000 votes from her citadel Bhawanipur in South Kolkata in the byelection.
It was a hattrick for Ms Banerjee from the prestigious Bhawanipur seat as she also returned to Assembly from this constituency in 2011 and 2016. But this time she surpassed all her earlier winning margins.
The win ensured Ms Banerjee to secure her Chief Minister post for this term too.
