A Maoist – on whom a reward of Rs 8 lakh was announced – has surrendered in this restive district of Left-wing extremism-affected Bastar division, police said on Saturday. Meetu Kashyap alias Fagnu – who became part of the insurgency in 2008 – capitulated to Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap here on Friday. The rebel was immediately provided an incentive of Rs 10,000. As part of the Bhairamgarh Area Committee, he was active for three months in Mirtur area and then for a year in Maad. Numerous cases are registered against him at various police stations.
