Five Arrested in Tusker Death Incident

Keonjhar: Keonjhar Forest department arrested five persons allegedly poached a tusker with lying live wire in the crop field in Telkoi range area of Odisha’s Keonjhar forest division. They are identified as Chitrasena Munda, Jitu Munda, Mithu Pradhan, Putura Pradhan, and Santosh Munda of Jansanpur village of Telkoi police station limit. Forest official seized wire, wood and other items used in the poaching. Assistant Conservator of forest Ashok Das said ” They have lay down the live wire in the crop field to poach elephant and wild boar. More interrogation is going on. They will be forwarded to court on Sunday.” Forest arrested them recreating the scene. According to the sources Forest officials seized a carcass of a forty year old tusker from crop field near Saleikena village on Friday morning. After post mortem, forest official conclude it a electrocution case. They arrested two persons, owner of the crop field on which the elephant lying dead. On the basis of their information forest official arrested five more poachers linked to the tusker death incident, sources said. On this matter so far no action taken against the forest officials for any negligence.
