Kendrapada : Kendrapara SP, Madkar Sandeep Sampat, praised Chandol Police Outpost SI Soumya Ranjan Panigrahi for his prompt action in rescuing a minor girl within 10 hours of her missing and averting a possible major tragedy.
As per the reports ,a 12- year old girl, studying in class seven in a local school, of chandol area under Kendrapada Sadar police limit had developed friendship with a girl of Keonjhar district for the last 6 months in social media platform instagram..
The minor girl became so intimate with her girl friend , she fled from her house to meet her.
When the girl did not return home on that evening ,the family members made frantic searches , and filed a missing complaint at chandol police outpost.
Acting on the information ,police tracked the mobile phone girl to Soso police limit area under Keonjhar district . A police team, led by Soumya Ranjan Panigrahi ,the Sub Inspector of Police, rushed to Keonjhar and rescued the girl .The girl was later handed over to her parents ,said Kendrapada SDPO Rajiv Lochan Panda.
During the investigation, the minor girl informed that she was invited by her friend to visit her .
Police suspected that she might be kidnapped for ransom or the miscreant might have engaged her in prostitutions .
We are conducting inquiry on the alleged matter”, said Soumya Ranjan Panigrahi ,the in-charge of Chandol police outpost.
