Bhubaneshwar: Sukinda Mines (Chromite) and Mahagiri Mines (Chromite) of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) have reaffirmed commitment to the “Green India Mission” by installing off-grid rooftop solar plants to harness solar energy.
One solar plant of 30 KW is installed at the rooftop of the Quality Control & Laboratory building of Sukinda Mines Chromite) to illuminate the premises, run laboratory muffle furnace and oven etc.
Another 40 KW solar plant is installed at the rooftop of Administration & Pit Head complex of Mahagiri Mines (Chromite) for lighting load in the premises.
The green initiative taken by IMFA at its mines is in the direction of continuous process of environment friendly sustainable mining efforts and also a reform process towards becoming a precursor in using renewable energy.
