Barbil : The wheels are finally in motion for the muchanticipated Barbil Bypass Ring Road, with the initiation of the crucial land acquisition process. A directive from the Odisha Government’s Joint Secretary, Dipti Ranjan Behera, issued on April 2nd to the Keonjhar District Administration and the Project Director, signals a significant step forward for this vital infrastructure project. The initial phase of development will witness the acquisition of land for an ambitious 18.3-kilometer flyover, a key component of the ring road. Adding an architectural flourish to this infrastructure endeavor, plans include the construction of a striking 3.7- kilometer super model suspension bridge along this stretch. The financial sinews for this undertaking have been secured, with a substantial allocation of 509.72 crore sanctioned for the project. Mindful of the potential impact on local communities, the administration has emphasized a sensitive approach to the land acquisition process, prioritizing the minimization of displacement for area residents. This commitment underscores a balanced approach between progress and the well-being of the local populace.Prior to this official directive, proactive engagement with local stakeholders was evident. On March 18th, a delegation spearheaded by Champua Deputy District Collector Umakant Parida convened at the Barbil Tehsil office. This meeting facilitated crucial discussions regarding the bypass project with local administrators, elected officials, and community members, ensuring their perspectives were considered. Further demonstrating a collaborative spirit, a local delegation from
the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Keonjhar Member of Parliament representative Nilamani Mahanta, engaged in discussions with the newly appointed Barbil Tehsildar, Rakesh Kumar Panda, on March 27th. These consultations highlight the multi-faceted engagement aimed at ensuring the smooth and considerate progression of the Barbil Bypass Ring Road project, promising enhanced connectivity and reduced congestion for the region.
