Forest team seized illegal sized Sal wood

Keonjhar : Keonjhar Forest Division team on Thursday conducts raid in a house and seized seized Illegal Sal Timber worth more than one lakh and fifty thousand in Patna Range, area. Acting on reliable information regarding illegal storage of forest produce, a raid was conducted by the staff of Patana Range under Keonjhar Forest Division and mobile team Keonjhar at the residence of Jaimani Mahanta in Village Nuapada.
                   
          During the search operation, illegally stored sawn sal timber was detected and seized total sixty pieces of different sizes from the premises. The volume of the wood is 0.62022 Cubic meter and worth more than Rs 1.5 lakh.
       “The seized timber has been taken into custody and a forest offence case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Odisha Forest Act and applicable forest laws. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the timber and identify any other persons involved in the illegal extraction, transportation, or storage of forest produce” said Dhanaraj HD, DFO Keonjhar.
