Puri : Sri Jagannath temple administration will provide housing plots and Rs.2 lakh cash to nearly 400 economically weak servitors of the temple to build houses.
Sri Jagannath Temple (SJTA) Chief Administrator Krishna Kumar told media persons that the newly constituted managing committee meeting today resolved to provide housing plot to 400 servitors in a phased manner.
The servitors would be allotted 600 sq.ft land and Rs two lakh each to build their own house in a plot in Matitota mouza in the first phase.
All the infrastructures like power supply, sewer and drinking water network besides roads will be developed at the housing site by the Temple administration, Dr.Kumar said.
The meeting also decided to set up Srimandir Adarsh Gurukul society under the temple Managing Committee under the Chairmanship of Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb .
The school will be constructed on 17 acres of land at Matitota at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crores to be provided by the state government. The Gurukul will operate from the 2022-23 academic session ,the temple Chief administrator said.
The committee asked the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to prepare a five year comprehensive plan in consultation with the temple administration for undertaking repair and conservation work of the 12th century shrine, a centrally protected monument.
Eight sub committees were constituted today to expedite all development work. These are Land, Finance, Ritual, Pension, Cult propagation, Ratna bhandar and appeal sub committees.
The Managing Committee further resolved to donate wheels of chariots free of cost after completion of the annual Rath yatra to interested religious institutions. Lottery system will be adopted if the number of applicants are more, he said.
A number of works relating to execution of heritage corridors around the Srimandir Meghanad prachir were approved by the committee.The Managing Committee asked the Finance sub committee to prepare and present the next fiscal budget.
It applauded the cooperation of local residents, servitors and all concerned for making the annual Rath Yatra of lord Jagannath a grand success.
Puri Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb, state Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, the Secretary of Law,Endowment commissioner, District Collector Samarth Verma, superintendent of police K Vishal Singh besides other officials participated in the meeting.
