Daily covid load in Odisha surpasses 200 mark in past 24 hours, tally rises to 10, 52,145

Bhubaneswar : After a four days gap the daily covid load in Odisha again crossed 200 mark as 218 new cases were detected in the past 24 hours taking the total cumulative tally in the state to 10,52,145.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said of the total 218 new positive cases,127 were reported from the quarantine centers and 91 local contact cases.

Khordha district recorded the highest number of 117 cases followed by Cuttack (15) and Mayurbhanj (14). These three districts together accounted for almost 67 percent of the total new cases.

As many as eleven of the total 30 districts in the state reported no new covid cases while sixteen districts have single digit covid cases in the past 24 hours.

Only two covid deaths were reported during the health audit in the past 24 hours pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8439.

Sources said 192 more covid patients were cured from the virus on Tuesday taking the total recoveries in the state to 10,41,728.

The active cases further declined to 1925 of which a majority of 877 cases were reported from Khordha district only followed by 107 each in Cuttack and Mayurbhanj and 106 in Sundargarh.

The other 26 districts however, have active cases less than 100.

The daily test positivity rate of the state stood at 0.35 percent from 61,764 tests conducted in the past 24 hours. Barring Khordha district which has 2.1 percent test positivity rate ,the other 29 districts have the test positivity rate less than one percent, 13 of them having zero test positivity rate.
