Daily covid load in Odisha dips below 200 mark for third consecutive day

Bhubaneswar : For the third consecutive day the daily covid load in Odisha remained below 200 mark as 178 new cases were detected in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 10,51,752.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 178 new cases reported from 18 districts as many as105 were reported from the quarantine centers and the rest 73 were local contact cases.

Sources said 37 covid positive cases were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years which is 20.7 percent of the total infections recorded in the past 24 hours Khordha district recorded the highest number of 85 cases followed by 13 in Cuttack and these two coastal districts together accounted for 55 percent of the total new cases registered in the
state in the past 24 hours.

Two more covid deaths were reported during the ongoing health audit pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8436.

The active cases further declined to 1898 of which Khordha district alone has 852 cases, about 44.8 percent followed by 111 in Mayurbhanj.These two districts together contributed half of the total active cases in the state.

Sources said 233 more covid patients were cured from the virus on Sunday taking the total recoveries in the state to 10,41,752.

The test positivity rate in the state stood at 0.32 percent but Khordha district registered 1.4 percent test positivity rate while ten districts recorded zero test positivity rate.
