Daily covid load in Odisha dips below 200 mark for second consecutive day,Tally mounts to 10,48,880

Bhubaneswar : For the second consecutive day Odisha reported less than 200 new covid positive cases in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 10,48,880.

Health and Family Welfare Department sources said 197 new infections which included 115 from the quarantine centres and 82 as local contact cases ,were reported from 19 districts with a test positivity rate of 0,37 percent in the past 24 hours.

On Saturday, the state reported 191 new cases while on November 21 also 177 new cases were recorded in the state.

Sources said out of 1907 new cases, Khordha district alone recorded a maximum of 94 cases followed by Sambalpur (16) and Sundargarh ( 12).

As many as 16 district registered single digit covid cases and no new covid cases were reported from eleven districts in the past 24 hours.

Only two covid deaths were registered from Bargarh district during the health audit taking the total fatalities in the state to 8409.

The recoveries surged to 10,38,085 after 221 more covid patients were discharged from the hospital on Sunday.The active cases declined to 2333 of which Khordha district alone accounted for 1029 cases followed by Sambalpur ( 141),Cuttack ( 127) and Mayurvbhanj (100).

These four districts together accounted for almost 60 percent of the total active cases in the state .

The other 26 districts however, have less than one hundred active cases each.

Sources said only Khordha district has the highest test positivity rate of 1.4 percent whereas the other 26 districts have the test positivity rate below one percent.
