Daily covid cases rising in Odisha, 252 fresh cases in past 24 hours take the tally to 10,49,597

Bhubaneswar : The daily covid load in Odisha has been witnessing a marginal rise in the number of positive cases during the last three days.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours 252 new cases were reported from 20 districts in Odisha taking the total tally in the state to 10,49,597.The state reported 221 and 237 new cases on November 29 and 30 respectively.

Out of 252 cases,148 were reported from the quarantine centres and 104 as local contact cases.

As many as 54 positive cases were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

Khordha district registered the highest number of 99 cases followed by Dhenkanal( 34), Cuttack ( 19), Jajpur (13) and 12 each from Balasore and Mayurbhanj.

These six districts together accounted for 75 per cent of the total new cases in the state. Onethird of the districts in the state however reported no new covid cases in the past 24 hours.

Sources said the covid death toll rose to 8415 with two more deaths, one each from Khordha and jajpur districts being reported during the health audit while the active cases have marginally declined to 2434.

A majority of 1036 active cases were found in the Khordha district alone followed by Sambalpur ( 150), Cuttack (134) and Mayurbhanj ( 118). The other 26 districts have less than a hundred active cases.

The daily test positivity rate(TPR) today remained 0.44 per cent while the Khordha district recorded 1.3 per cent whereas 17 districts reported the test positivity rate below one per cent and 12 districts recorded zero test positivity rate.

The recovery in the state surged to 10,38,695 with 186 covid patients being cured of the virus on Wednesday.
