Covid 19: Odisha reports 365 new cases in past 24 hours,Tally surges to 10,40,595

Bhubaneswar : For the third time during October the daily covid load in Odisha dipped below 400 mark as 365 new cases were reported in the state in the past 24 hours taking the tally to 10,40,595.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 365 new cases, 212 were reported from the quarantine centres and 153 as local contact cases.

Earlier on October 16 and October 18, the state recorded 358 and 340 cases respectively.

On April 1,2021, Odisha registered 394 covid positive cases.Official sources said of the 365 new cases, about 15.3 percent cases reported in the age group of 0 to 18 years and Khordha district registered the highest number of 157 cases followed by Cuttack ( 34), Mayurbhanj( 23) and kendrapara ( 20).

The daily test positivity rate also further dipped to 0.54 percent in the past 24 hours. Except Khordha and Deogarh district, the other 28 districts in the state recorded test positivity rate below one percent.Both Khordha and Deogarh have registered 1.6 percent in the past 24 hours.

The state reported 4563 active cases out of which khordha district alone accounted for2186 cases,about 48 percent of the total active cases in the state.Sources said on Thursday 546 patients were cured from the virus in the state taking the total recoveries to 10,27,654.

The covid death toll also rose to 8325 after three more deaths, one each in Khordha,Angul and Balasore district were recorded during the health audit.
