New Delhi : India logged 41,965 new COVID-19 cases and 460 fatalities in the last 24 hours as the positivity rate rose to 2.61 per cent in the country, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,28,08,845 whereas the death toll has climbed to 4,39,020 after 460 more people succumbed to the viral infection, according to the data.
The active caseload stands at 3,78,181 after reporting a rise of 7,541 cases in the last 24 hours, the figures showed.
The share of active cases now stands at 1.15 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, 33,964 more people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours making the recovery registry climb to 3,19,93,644. As per the data, the recovery rate is now reduced to 97.51 per cent.
The Ministry stated that the weekly positivity rate (2.58 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for 68 days now.
A total of 52,31,84,293 samples were tested up to August 31, 2021, for Covid-19. Of these, 16,06,785 samples were tested on Tuesday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
India performed highest-ever single day vaccination on Tuesday as it administered 1.33 crore doses in a single day.
So far, 65.41 crore vaccine doses have been administered under nationwide vaccination drive, the ministry informed.
