Commissionerate Police Collaborates With Cyber Experts To control Crime In Twin City

Bhubaneswar: In a strategic move to fortify cybercrime combat, the Twin City Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack has rolled out a pioneering initiative. Addressing the media today, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-Bhubaneswar Prateek Singh unveiled a comprehensive plan aimed at safeguarding citizens against cyber threats while also intensifying efforts to apprehend offenders. Singh disclosed that the novel strategy involves enlisting the expertise of cyber professionals and specialists from software companies, who will work in tandem with law enforcement to tackle cybercrime effectively. We’ve already brought on board 25 volunteers in the initial phase,” Singh stated while emphasising the collaborative approach of the police.The volunteers are slated to operate in specialised teams targeting various cybercrimes, such as those occurring in the dark web, deepfake web, and falsified social media campaigns. Moreover, their role extends to imparting cyber security knowledge to the police personnel.Our collaboration is not confined to local efforts; we’re bolstering ties with police forces in other states,” Singh highlighted. As General Elections are around the corner, the initiative assumes added significance. The enhanced preparedness will equip the cyber police teams in the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack twin cities to counter misinformation campaigns and address other critical issues rampant on social media platforms. This strategic move signifies a proactive stance by law enforcement in leveraging specialised expertise to protect citizens from the escalating threats posed by cybercrime, DCP Singh expressed.
