CM’s emphasis on Gangadar Meher LI project Completion

Bhubaneswar: Water will fall in the fields, farmers will smile. Farmers no longer have to depend on rain alone. The land of Bargarh and nearby districts will be irrigated through Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project. In this context, a pipeline has been laid to deliver water to 64 thousand acres of dry land up to 92 km through the Gangadhar Meher Irrigation Project in Bijepur constituency. Secretary VK Pandian posted a picture on social media. The Chief Minister has emphasized to complete this project as soon as possible. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has
also discussed this with the technical team. The state government is emphasizing that the various large irrigation projects going on in the state will be completed on schedule. Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the first meeting of the transformation chain was held last April and it was decided to implement 15 major irrigation projects of the state by 2024. It was decided in the meeting to implement the much awaited Gangadar Meher lift irrigation project by June 2023. Farmers will get water to their fields in the coming kharif while the
project is progressing as per schedule. Not only the Gangadhar Meher Project, but also Lower Suktel, Kanpur
Irrigation Project, Anandpur Barrage Project and some other projects have been taken by the government.
The Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project aimed to provide water to 25 thousand 600 hectares of agricultural land at a cost of 1138 crore 63 lakh rupees. Among them, 15 thousand 200 hectares of 77 villages of Bijepur block in
Bargarh district, 6 thousand 400 hectares of 23 villages of Sohela block and 3 thousand 840 hectares of 19 villages of Barpali block and 160 hectares of 5 villages of Dunguripali block of Subarnapur district were targeted to provide water.
