Bhubaneswar Mar 13: Odisha government has decided to promote the students from class 1 to class 8 without holding the annual examination in view of the suspension of classes in primary and upper primary schools due to prevailing COVID- 19 health crisis.
The School and Mass Education Department has made a decision in this regard and an official notification will be issued shortly, the School and Mass Education minister Samir Ranjan Dash said on Saturday.
The class-9 students who are now attending physical classes will however appear the examination online mode, he said. Meanwhile the authorities of high schools have been directed to follow the revised examination pattern introduced by Board of Secondary Education (BSE) for the students, who will appear for annual matric examinations from May 3.
The educational institutions, which are yet to conduct BSE pattern exams, have been directed to complete the same by 31 March. This will help the examinees versed with the newly introduced question pattern, Minister Dash added.
