Bhubaneswar : The Commissionerate of Police have arrested three drug peddlers and seized 268 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 27 lakh from their possession during a raid at the jail field under Dargah bazar Police station of Cuttack .
Police sources today said acting on a tip off , a police team raided the jail field and arrested the accused yesterday.
Police identified the accused as Bapi Nayak (27 ) Gopinath Patra (37) and Bibekananda Jena (30).
Police also seized two motor cycles, Rs 1.20 lakh in cash and four mobile phones from their possession.
During interrogation the accused admitted that they are illegally dealing with brown sugar and supplying to the local dealers of Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur after procuring from Jaleswar, Balasore regularly.
Efforts are on to arrest the mastermind behind the racket.
Cuttack urban Police district has seized 4.646 KGs of brown sugar worth of Rs 4.61 crore and arrested 30 professional drug peddlers during the Special this year so far.
