Bhubaneswar: Birla School of Management, Birla Global University (BGU) in Bhubaneswar organised an HR conclave yesterday on ‘HR for Future Work’. The conclave was inaugurated by Chief Guest Ramesh Chandra Joshi, Director (Finance) NALCO in the presence of Guest of Honour, Anil Sinha, Advisor & Head HR, Jay Shree Tea & Industries Ltd. & ExCHRO, Aditya Birla Group, Prof. PP Mathur, Vice Chancellor, BGU, Dr. BK Das, Registrar, BGU and Prof. P Nayak, Conclave Chair and Dean of Birla School of Management by lighting of lamp. The Chief Guest Joshi said that technology is here to supplement the HR functions, and not to replace humans. He also said that innovative solutions will always be given by humans and not by machines. The Guest of Honour Sinha in his speech said that HR has evolved from a basic administrator to a strategic role recognised as a business partner, strategic innovator, and champion. Prof. Mathur spoke on the importance of having an effective HR function in every organisation and technological advancement by emphasising on uncertainty of time that always pays path to develop, upgrade and upscale the human potential. Prof. Das shared his thoughts on the transition of HR from a traditional staff department to modern Human Resources (HR) and also underlined the importance of HR in any organization. Prof. Nayak delivered the welcome address and emphasized the need for a humanising workforce to manage diversity and to adopt inclusivity. Vipul Singh, ExSenior Vice President and Head HR, ADP who had joined online stressed the need for developing digital and analytical skills to match the requirements of future jobs. Dr. Archana Choudhary, Conclave Convener set the tone of HR conclave by introducing the theme. The conclave had insightful panel discussions on the future of jobs and HR skills and the need for HR innovation. The conclave also hosted poster-making and case analysis, toon case and what-if competition amongst students of various B Schools. The Conclave saw an overwhelming participation of students and delegates from various institutions. The programme came to an end with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Snigdha Mohapatra, HR Conclave co-convener.
