Arpan Rath Rolls in 70 GPs of 3 Blocks of Deogarh District

Keunjhar thousands of household from seventy GPS of three blocks and eleven wards of Deogarh town of tribal dominated Deogarh district have welcome and offered betel nuts  and raw rice  in in ‘Kalasha’ of Sri Jaganath Arpan Ratha that rolling all over the district. According to the project director DRDA Deogarh Dharmendra Behera “The program is going on peacefully. In the Deogarh town, the rolling of two chariots was inaugurated from Jaganath temple and Gopal jew Matha where as other rolled
from each GP headquarter after obtaining a divine ordain  from the village temple to launch the march of the chariots “. Deogarh Collector Somesh Kumar  Upadhaya among others inaugurated the Ratha at District headquarter. All ward members of GPs and Municipality along with other supported to make the program success. As the Deogarh was once under prince’s rule, and the Jaganath temple was built in the year 1705 by the former king, hence people of Deogarh have inclination towards the Jaganath culture. Villagers of all the villages of 70 GPs have welcomed the colourful chariots by chanting ‘Jay Jaganath’ and organising
Sankirtan and offering betel nuts and raw rice in the name of Lord Jaganath of Puri to the chariot. The village roads are painted
with colourful ‘Rangoli’ to welcome the chariots. Sankirtan troops and the devotees accompanied the chariot during the tour
from house to house of the village. Every day, the chariot takes a rest in the village temple in the evening and again starts rolling
to other areas from the next morning. This has created a spiritual and religious atmosphere in the entire district as if ‘Jaganaath Cult’ is a part of this tribal district. The Arpan Rath is moving in each and every village of Tileibani, Riamal and Barkot blocks and Deogarh municipality of Deogarh district. The Jay Jaganath Arpan Raths have been covering the whole district with the supervision of respective BDO of blocks and Executive Officers of Municipality.
