IEPS seize 500 Grams of brown sugar, arrest three drug peddlers including two women.

Khordha:-In a major breakthrough under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan”, the Industrial Estate Police (IEPS) seized 500 grams of brown sugar near Mo Khordha Restaurant and arrested three drug peddlers, including two women, during a special anti-drug operation. Addressing  a press conference at the District Police Office(DPO) SP, Khordha, Parmar Smit Parshottamdas(IPS) informed media persons that the district police have achieved significant success in their intensified drive against narcotics trafficking.

 

Acting on reliable intelligence, industrial estate police  team conducted a raid near Mo Khordha Restaurant and intercepted the accused while they were allegedly engaged in illegal drug trade activities. During the operation  police recovered 500 grams of brown sugar, the market value of which is estimated to be ₹50 lakhs of rupees.The contraband and 5 mobile phone one Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle was seized and the accused were taken into custody for further investigation. The accused have been identified as Soumya Ranjan Swain(19) vill- Upar Sahi, Khordha, Krushna Priya Swain(50) vill- Kakudia ,pipili and Ipshita Panigrahi (21) vill – Panabaraj, khordha .The SP, stated that the crackdown is part of the district police’s sustained campaign under ‘Nasha Mukt Abhiyan’, aimed at eliminating drug trafficking and protecting the youth from the menace of substance abuse.

He reiterated that strict action would continue against drug smugglers and peddlers operating in the district. A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and distribution network of the seized contraband. The police have appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking and illegal narcotics activities.
