Ranchi : Eight lakh students studying in classes 9th and 11th in government schools of Jharkhand have been promoted to the next level without appearing for any exams.
An order in this regard was issued on Thursday by the Director of the Secondary Education Department Harsh Mangla. In class 9th 4.50 lakh students had registered themselves for appearing in the exams while in the class 11th the number of registered candidates stood at 3.50 lakh.
In the order it has been said that it has been two months since the new Academic session for the year 2021-22 started and in wake of the prevailing Covid situation in the state there is no possibility of schools opening in the state by another two months.
In such a scenario if the students are not promoted to the next class then it will be problematic to complete the syllabus of classes 10th and 12th, however, this order will be effective for the present year only.
The students of class 9th and 11th are to appear in the matric and intermediate exams next year. Earlier students in classes up to 8th in government schools have been promoted to the next class without exams.
