Vigilance Raid: OAS Officer Found In Possession Of Plots In Prime Areas

Bhubaneswar: Saroj Kanta Mohanty, OAS (SAG), Chief General Manager (P&A), IDCO, was today found having multiple plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack following raids by the Odisha Vigilance in connection with the allegation against him regarding possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Simultaneous house searches were conducted by the anticorruption agency in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Jajpur on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. Assets worth crores of rupees including two multi-storey buildings, two 3 BHK flats, 10 plots, bank deposits of over Rs 70.55 lakh, gold weighing around 700 grams, a four-wheeler, etc unearthed in the house search of Mohanty. The movable and immovable assets that have been detected so far in the name of Mohanty and his family members are a threestorey building at Mahanadi Vihar in Nayabazar of Cuttack with an area of around 6,200 sqft, a twostorey building at Brahmabarada in Dharmasala of Jajpur district with an area of around 3,300 sqft, a 3 BHK Flat No-103 at Amrita Alayam built on plot No-GA/437 in Sailashree Vihar of Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar, another 3 BHK Flat No-201 at Tower No-01, Metro Green Woods in Patapur of Baranga in Cuttack, 10 plots of which 7 plots are located in the prime areas of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The measurement and valuation of the seized buildings, flats, and plots are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing.As further searches are underway and an unearthing of more assets is likely, hence overall valuation is likely to increase, a Vigilance press release mentioned. Seven teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising 10 DSPs, six Inspectors, and several other staff conducted the raid on the strength of a Search Warrant.
