Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh today visited the Weavers’ Service Centre here and an office of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Union Ministry of Textiles. During her visit, she has observed the activities of various sections like design section, weaving section and dyeing and printing section of the Weavers Service Centre. She also witnessed the handloom products developed by the trainees of Skill Upgradation Training Programmes conducted in various Clusters as well as in SAMARTH Scheme She also gone through the samples developed by the Weavers Service Centres. Later, the Union Minister interacted with the handloom weaver beneficiaries of Hathkarga Samvardhan Sahayatha (HSS), Skill Upgradation Training Programmes, Workshed, Lighting Units, Yarn Supply Scheme, Mudra Scheme, etc., in the presence of Muthusamy, Zonal Director (South and West Zone) and officers of Weavers Service Centres of Chennai, Salem and Kancheepuram. She also interacted with the Short Term Trainees of Weavers Service Centre about their training in various disciplines and the significance of their training.
