Bhubaneswar: All schools in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will remain closed on June 20 in view of the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s toOdisha Capital to attend a grand event marking the first anniversary of the BJP Government in the State.
The School and Mass Education Department sent a letter in this regard to the District
Education Officers (DEOs) of Khurda and Cuttack.As per the letter, all government,
government-aided and private schools under the territorial jurisdictions of Bhubaneswar
Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) will remain
closed on June 20 (Friday) in view of the Prime Minister’s visit to the capital city.”Considering the anticipated heavy traffic congestion and logistical challenges associated with such a massive public event, the government has decided to declare
a holiday for all schools under the Department of School and Mass Education in the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Municipal Corporation areas,” stated the letter.It said a large gathering is expected for event to be graced by the Prime Minister and it may cause traffic disruptions in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The decision aims to minimize disruption to students and ensure their safety. The government hopes that this measure will contribute to the smooth conduct of the event and minimize any potential
inconvenience to the public.It may be noted that the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold
a roadshow and address a public meeting in Bhubaneswar to mark the completion of one
year in office of the BJP government in Odisha on June 20.
