New Delhi, June 24 (Dumanimail) The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea filed by Zakia Jafri seeking fresh investigations into post-Godhra 2002 Gujarat communal riots.
A three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar, had reserved the judgement on December 9 last year after hearing a detailed argument from Zakia, SIT and others.
Zakia Jafri, the widow of Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, who was killed during the violence, had moved the Supreme Court challenging the SIT’s clean chit to then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the matter.
In her plea, she alleged a larger conspiracy in the riots involving many politicians and police.
