‘Satyamev Jayate’: Anil Deshmukh tweets before ED appearance

Mumbai : Just before entering the Enforcement Directorate office here, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday refuted the corruption allegations levelled against him by IPS Param Bir Singh.

Accompanied by his lawyer and associates, Deshmukh reached the ED office at around 1140 hours.

The NCP leader finally appeared before the ED after skipping five summons followed by the Bombay High Court’s rejection of his plea, seeking to quash these summons.

Prior to reaching the ED office, Deshmukh tweeted ‘Satyamev Jayate’ and later questioned the evasion of IPS Singh while talking to media persons.

“The person who had registered a case against me is absconding. In my case, prime complainant is absconding,” he remarked.

He said, “As a public spirited person having spent my life time in the service of my people, I have scrupulously complied with the rule of law in letter and spirit. There has been no occasion when I have not made myself available for any probity in my public or personal life. My life is an open book and I have absolutely nothing to hide.”

“As a citizen of country, I have taken recourse to my constitutional remedies for the protection of my life and liberty as guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution. Before the Hon’ble Supreme Court. my writ petition challenging the proceedings under PMLA is pending adjudication,” he added.
