PM Modi Awards ‘5G Use Case Lab’ to KIIT-DU

Bhubaneswar: PrimeMinister Narendra Modi onFriday awarded a ‘5G Use CaseLab’ to KIIT-DU, enabling
students and faculties to exploitopportunities and developsolutions in this lab for varioussectors using the 5G
technology. Along with KIITDU,99 other educationalinstitutes across the countrywere awarded the 5G Use Case
Labs by the PM.Awarding the labs during theinauguration of the 7th Editionof the India Mobile Congress
2023 in Delhi, Modi exudedconfidence that the 5G use labswill have a similar impact as the10,000 Atal tinkering labsexposing about 75 lakh childrento cutting-edge technology.”These labs prompt the youthto dream big and give them theconfidence to achieve them,” headded. According to agovernment statement, the labsare an endeavour to realise theopportunities associated with5G technology by encouragingthe development of 5Gapplications that cater, both toIndia’s unique needs as well asthe global demands.The unique initiative willfoster innovation across various
socioeconomic sectors likeeducation, agriculture, health,power, transportation etc, andpropel the country into the
forefront of usage of 5Gtechnology. The initiative isalso a pivotal step for buildinga 6G-ready academic and startup
ecosystem in the country.More importantly, the initiativeis a step towards developingindigenous telecom technologywhich is critical for nationalsecurity.
