PM launches PMASBY to strengthen health infrastructure in the country

Varanasi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PMASBY) from his parliamentary constituency with a pledge to strengthen the health infrastructure in the country to meet any pandemic in future.

The PM along with launching the PMASBY, worth over Rs 64,180 crores for the entire country, also inaugurated 28 projects worth over Rs 5189 crores for his parliamentary constituency.

“Today there is a government at the Center and in the state which understands the pain of the poor, downtrodden, oppressed, backward, and middle class. We are working day and night to improve health facilities in the country,” PM said.

PM in his brief address said, “There are 3 major aspects of Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission to address the different gaps in the health sector of the country. The main focus is related to the creation of elaborate facilities for diagnostics and treatment. Besides, Health and Wellness Centers will be opened in villages and cities, where there will be facility of early detection of diseases and facilities like free medical consultation, free test, free medicine will be available in these centers.”

He announced that under the new scheme, 35,000 critical beds would be available in 600 districts, 15 surgery hospitals to work 24×7, 15 new BSL labs, 730 districts integrated health testing labs, and 15 new research labs would be set up.

PM Modi said under the scheme, infrastructure required to check and monitor diseases would be developed. “The health scheme will also augment screening of diseases. Under this mission, infrastructure required to check and monitor diseases will be developed. The Ayushman Bharat Scheme has also provided free treatment to more than 2 crore poor people in hospitals,” PM Modi said.

He said the speed with which new medical colleges are being opened in UP will have a great impact on the number of medical seats and doctors. With more seats, now the child of poor parents will also be able to dream of becoming a doctor and fulfill it, he added.

The PM while blaming the previous governments said, “In the long post-independence period, the attention was not given to health facilities as much as the country needed. Those who were in power for long time in the country, did not pay attention to the development of the country’s healthcare system.”

Talking about the Covid vaccination, Modi said, “The country has achieved a major milestone of 100 crore vaccine doses.”

“With the blessings of Baba Vishwanath, with the unwavering glory of Maa Ganga, by the unflinching faith of the people of Kashi, the campaign of free vaccine for all is progressing successfully,” he said.

Talking about his parliamentary constituency, PM said, “Today, the heart of Kashi is the same, the mind is the same, but sincere efforts are being made to improve the body (infrastructure).

“The work done in Varanasi in the last 7 years is not done in the last several decades. If Kashi has been another big achievement of the past years, then it is the progress of BHU again towards excellence in the world. Today, from technology to health, unprecedented facilities are being created in BHU and young friends from all over the country are coming here for studies,” he further said.

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya also addressed the gathering.
