Odisha Records 576 New COVID Cases

Bhubaneswar: The daily covid cases in Odisha continued to remain over 500 mark for the second consecutive day as 576 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours taking the cumulative tally in the state to 12,93,504. There has been a sharp rise of over 100 covid positive cases in the state during the last two days as the number of infections has gone up from 470 to 576. Health Department sources said out of 576 new cases,337 were recorded from the quarantine centres and the rest 239 as local contact cases. As many as 69 positive cases were reported in the age group of 0 to 18 years. Khordha distric alone accounted for 204 cases followed by Cuttack ( 118), Sundargarh ( 42) and Puri (37). These four districts together accounted for 69 per cent of the total positive cases detected in the past 24 hours. The active cases in the state surged to over 3000 mark to reach 3027 of which Khordha district alone recorded 1358cases, about 44 per cent of the total active cases in the state followed by Cuttack ( 561), Sundargarh ( 146) and Puri (116). These four districts together accounted for 72 per cent of the total active cases in, the state. Three coastal districts such as Khordha, Cuttack and Puri have recorded a high test positivity rate of 7 per cent to 10 per cent. Sources said 344 covid patients were cured in the past 24 hours taking the total recoveries in the state to 12,81,298.
