Srinagar : Militants on Sunday triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said.
They said panic gripped Turkawangam in Shopian when militants detonated a low intensity IED near a security force vehicle on Sunday morning.
However, they said there was no report of any loss of life or injury in the blast. “The sound of the blast was heard in the entire area,” they said, adding reinforcement has been rushed and a search operation has been launched in the area to nab the attackers.
The blast comes a day after police on Saturday averted a major tragedy when a powerful IED was recovered from Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants, who were planning to detonate it in south Kashmir district of Pulwama. “An IED weighing 10 kgs was recovered in Pulwama on Saturday,” they said.
