Thiruvananthapuram : A low pressure area is very likely to form over southeast Arabian Sea around May 14.
It is very likely to move north-northwestwards across southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area and intensify gradually, Meteorological Centre here said in a release on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a message said Yellow Alert was issued in a few districts in Kerala following the prediction of heavy rains in the state till May 14 and urged people to strictly follow the guidelines of State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
The low pressure area may intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over east central Arabian Sea around May 16 and continue to move north-northwestwards, the release said. Fishermen ventured out into the deep sea areas of Arabian sea are advised to return to coast by May 14, it said.
The fishermen are advised not to venture into southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep-Maldives areas from May 13, east central Arabian Sea along and off Karnataka coast from May 14 and into eastcentral Arabian Sea and along and off Maharashtra-Goa coasts from May 15.
Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over Kerala on May 14 and 15.

The intensity is likely to further increase and very heavy falls at a few places and extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely on May 15 in the state, the release said, adding that squally wind speed reaching 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely along and off Kerala Coast.
