Kabul airport blast death toll soars to 110

Kabul : As many as 110 people have so far died, including 13 US servicemen, in the heinous terrorist attack at the Hamid Karzai International Airport here, multiple media reports said on Friday.

According to reports, over 1,330 people have sustained injuries in the twin suicide bombings outside the HKIA airport on Thursday.

Sending out a stern warning to those behind the attack, US President Joe Biden vowed to hunt down the terrorists. “We will hunt you down and make you pay,” the President said.

President Biden said he has asked the US military for options to respond to the explosions, which, he said, had allegedly been carried out by affiliates of the Islamic State operating in Afghanistan.

The Islamic State (ISIS-K) had on Thursday claimed responsibility for the deadly suicide bombings on its Telegram account. The ISIS has identified the suicide bomber as Abdulrahman al-Logari, and said he was less than five metres away from US soldiers when he detonated a suicide vest.

Strong condemnations poured in from all corners of the world including India, which said the attacks reinforced the need for the world to stand unitedly against terrorism and all those who provide sanctuaries to terrorists.

As per latest reports, people are still trying to leave the war-torn country and have thronged the airport area. The evacuation is proceeding on war-footing scale.
