Panaji : Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday alleged that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had confided world’s largest democracy to a dark cell of dictatorship by imposing emergency.
‘On this day in 1975,Indira Gandhi led Congress Govt, to fulfil its own political interests, confined world’s largest democracy to a dark cell of dictatorship by imposing emergency in India. My salutations to all those who fought to restore democracy in India. #DarkDaysOfEmergency,’ he tweeted.
‘The historic 1975 emergency was officially issued on June 25th by the Indira Gandhi led government. This is black Day in Indian Democracy,’ he said.
