New Delhi : As many as 25,072 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the country during the past 24 hours, while 389 succumbed in the same period, data from the Union Health Ministry showed on Monday.
The fresh demises soared the death toll to 4,34,756.
According to the Ministry, the active cases declined by 19,474, to stand at 3,33,924. It is now 1.09 per cent of the total caseload.
On the recovery front, 44,157 patients were cured and discharged in the past one day, taking the total recovery count to 3,16,80,626, which is 97.63 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate remained steady at 1.34 per cent.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.94 per cent which has been less than 3 per cent for 28 consecutive days.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 50,75,51,399 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 12,95,160 were tested on Sunday.
Till now, 58,25,49,595 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 7,95,543 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours.
