Mumbai : A large number of police personnel were deployed outside BJP leader Kirit Somaiya’s house at Mulund in eastern suburb here.
Police went to serve notice to Somaiya, issued by the Kolhapur Collector prohibiting the former MP to enter Kolhapur district.
Somaiya, who was supposed to go to Kolhapur to visit in a sugar factory there in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the mill.
He was supposed to leave for Kolhapur this evening by Mahalaxmi train. But, he was restrained to go out of his house by police. Police has imposed section 144 of in Mulund area.
Somaiya said that the notice was issued by Kolhapur Collectorate asking him not to enter Kolhapur district.
BJP state chief Chandrakant Patil criticised the state government’s decision to prevent Somaiya from visiting Kolhapur. He said Somaiya was former MP and not criminal, and there was no justification for disallowing him to go to Kolhapur.
