April 2 (UNI) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said encephalitis, which claimed lives of thousands of children for in eastern Uttar Pradesh for five decades due to the apathy of the previous government, has been controlled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the last five years. After launching a special communicable diseases control campaign here, Yogi said encephalitis has become a bane for the eastern UP. “Previous government paid no attention to it. From 1977 to 2017 every year 1,500 to 2,000 children died due to encephalitis in eastern UP, but the BJP government controlled it in the last four to five years,” he said. He said to control encephalitis the BJP government launched a special campaign and made people aware of preventive steps and the government is getting success and the death rate has declined. “The state government is very sensitive towards medical and health. UP has created a record in constructing medical colleges. To sort out the problem of medical education, teaching will be started in more medical colleges within a year. A plan is being prepared for this,” he said. The CM said the country was fighting against corona, the biggest pandemic of the century and lakhs of people lost their lives in the world.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the UP government developed the best corona management model and it was appreciated by the country. The double engine government worked for every needy person,” he said. He said the health services are continuously improving in UP and people are getting its benefits. “A scheme is being run to keep the people of UP healthy. It should be our effort that not a single person is deprived of treatment and education,” he said. Yogi said, “People should not allow filth to gather. There should be no filth or water logging which can become a cause of any kind of illness. We have to take forward the cleanliness programme on priority. If we will maintain cleanliness then there will be no threat of diseases like encephalitis and chikungunya. Our effort should be that the drinking water should be pure.” He said vaccines of Japanese Encephalitis will also be administered along with the cleanliness programme. The CM said wheat procurement centers have started from April 1. From April 4, ‘School Chalo’ campaign program will be launched in the state. “School education has been affected due to the Corona period across the country.
