New Delhi : The Governmenent on Thursday introduced two Bills– the Essential Defence Services Bill, 2021 and The Inland Vessels Bill, 2021 in Lok Sabha.
Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt introduced the Essential Defence Services Bill, 2021 in the House amid the uproar of opposition members over several issues including Pegasus row.
This Bill will replace the Essential Defence Services Ordinance, 2021 which was promulgated on June 30, 2021.
The Bill provides for the maintenance of Essential Defence Services so as to secure the security of the nation and the life and property of public at large and for matters connected therewith.
Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal introduced the The Inland Vessels Bill, 2021 in the House amid noisy scenes.
The Bill seeks to replace the Inland Vessels Act, 1917. A key feature of the Bill is a unified law for the entire country, instead of separate rules framed by the states.
The Bill provides for a central database for recording the details of vessel, vessel registration, crew on an electronic portal.
The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 1600 hrs due to ruckus by the Opposition over various issues
including Pegasus row, new farm bills, fuel price hike and other issues.
