Egypt to send medical aid to India

Cairo : Egyptian Health Minster Hala Zayed on Saturday said that 30 tons of medical supplies would be sent to India to help contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A shipment of 300 oxygen cylinders, 20 ventilators, 100 medical beds, 20 electrocardiography machines, 30 defibrillators and 50 electric syringe pumps will be sent to India, Xinhua quoted the minister as saying, citing her statement.

The supplies will be delivered to India in cooperation with the Egyptian armed forces, the statement added.

On April 29, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said around 40 countries, including Egypt, would offer assistance in whichever capacity possible.

On Friday, India reported 401,993 new COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day spike since the start of the outbreak, taking the total number of cases to 19,164,969. Within the same period of time, the death toll rose by 3,523 to 211,853.
