New Delhi : India reported 45,083 new cases of COVID-19 and 460 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the union health ministry said on Sunday.
The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,26,95,030 whereas the death toll has climbed to 4,37,830 after 460 more people succumbed to the viral infection, according to the data.
The active caseload stands at 3,68,558 after reporting a rise of 8,783 cases in the last 24 hours, the figures showed.
The share of active cases has now risen to 1.13 per cent of the total COVID-19 cases, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, 35,840 more people recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours making the recovery numbers climb to 3,18,88,642. As per the data, the recovery rate is now reduced to 97.53 per cent
The union ministry stated that the weekly positivity rate (2.28 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for 645 days now.
Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate (2.57 per cent) was less than 3 per cent for the last 34 days, it added.
A total of 51,86,42,929 samples were tested up to August 28, 2021, for COVID-19. Of these, 17,55,327 samples were tested on Saturday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
The country’s vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 63.09 crores, the ministry informed.
